Happily Feeding

by 01.45 all puppies were happily feeding with their mummy, it was a tough labour for penny she took more time to rest between puppies each time showing she was getting tired and on the last puppy i thought it would never arrive, it took almost 2 hours from puppy 6 to 7 and i thought id have to call a vet, seems i was just a worried mummy too, as the puppy was fine and healthy. Some arrived not moving or crying but i soon got them moving cleared their airways and shook them into life. Mertle had an umbilicle cord that wouldnt stop bleeding and had to be clamped for a while. But they were strong and healthy and crying for mummy.

Once it was all over and the whelping box quickly changed bedding and hot water bottles refilled the puppies were snuggled into meet their mummy. The room they was in smelt pretty bad as it was so warm to keep the puppies from chilling so it was time for me to get some air, and left penny to take care of them once they all got the idea of how and where their food comes from.
