Busy day

I was off work today so i was able to give the puppies and mums lots of attention. Both mums have had a nice half bath dry and brush of their bottom areas! Molly has been to the vet for a post cesarean check up, she is doing fine, still need to keep and eye out for infections but so far so good.
All the puppies have had a good wash, like most puppies their poo is very soft and mushy, it gets everywhere! i have changed penny's litter 4 times already today.
Mums are eating a ton, they are being fed pedigree puppy meat and pedigree puppy biscuits they, the puppy food has the extra that they need to feed their puppies. they are on 2 tins each per day and this reduces to 1 tin when the puppies are 2 weeks old and by 3 weeks old they will be on the full dry food diet which is better for them in the long run. By 4 weeks old we will be weaning the puppies and we will reduce the mums intake of food to help to produce less milk.

Today has been fun for penny, as she had a natural birth of 8 puppies she has lost some of her toilet control, she cant hold it for long once she is up. so we have been watching her all day, quickly getting her to the garden, rewarding her for waiting till she gets out side. This is definitely working, no accidents today plus she is back to asking at the door. Its amazing what you can achieve in a day with this breed.
All the puppies have been weighed again today and are all gaining weight. The weather here has been rainy again today so we are constantly changing hot water bottles to keep the puppies snugly and warm.
